I noticed this in the first week — the way credit was attributed, the way decisions were made, the way people talked about their work. It was disorienting. I had spent two years in a place where the opposite was true.

The Meridian exposure took four months to prepare. Not because the evidence was insufficient — it was abundant — but because I wanted it to be right. Not just legally sound but undeniable, the kind of documentation that could not be minimised or reframed or dismissed as a disgruntled employee's complaint.

The filing was reported on a Tuesday. By Wednesday it was the story. By Thursday, Meridian's board had called an emergency meeting. By Friday, my former supervisor had resigned.

The dinner was not what I expected. I had expected something formal — a restaurant chosen to impress, a conversation that was careful and strategic. What I got was his apartment, and food he had cooked himself, and a conversation that was none of those things.
